Our Team

Lori Young

Lori is a Glace Bay native, and has been a member of the Town House team for the past 15 years. After graduating with her diploma in office administration from NSCC in 2006, Lori began work at Town House and fell in love with the mission, culture, and the people we serve.

“I love the people I work with and I love all the programs Town House has to offer. It is a great feeling being able to help those in the community in need.”

Lori currently lives in Glace Bay with her two daughters and is very proud that they’ve grown up knowing the importance of giving back and being engaged in their community through their involvement in Town House programs and activities.

Executive Director

Patti McDonald

Patti has spent the last 20 years working in non-profits such as the YMCA of Greater Halifax/ Dartmouth, Easter Seals Nova Scotia, and BGC Cape Breton supporting marginalized children, youth, and adults gain access to social, educational, and recreational opportunities in their communities.

Since moving back to Cape Breton/ Unama'ki in 2016 after living in Halifax for the previous decade, Patti found her passion in combining a celebration of Cape Breton's rich history and culture with accessible recreation opportunities through her summer camp Coastal Roots, and also through participating in important community events, such as taking on the co-ordinator role for 2020's Lumiere Cape Breton/ Unama'ki festival, or serving on the board of directors for NextGen Cape Breton.

Patti studied history and business at Acadia University and NSCC, respectively. But her most important learning moments have come from the people and communities she has served.

“Town House has amazing community relationships, and the staff and volunteers are all so passionate about the work we do. I’m so grateful to learn from them and carry on the mission of supporting the people of Glace Bay and surrounding areas.”
