Collaborative Food Network (CFN)

Building community through food, dignity, and connection.

The Collaborative Food Network (CFN) at Town House is a community-led initiative designed to tackle food insecurity while strengthening local connections and well-being. Launched in 2024 and rooted in Glace Bay, CFN brings together residents, volunteers, service providers, and partners to create inclusive, low-barrier food programs that meet people where they are.

Whether it's a hot breakfast, a home-grown tomato, or a friendly conversation over coffee, CFN programs are about more than just food—they’re about dignity, choice, and community. From communal meals and gardening to education and dialogue, each program is designed to nourish bodies, build skills, and bring people together.

With strong support from local organizations, provincial partners, and grassroots volunteers, Town House CFN continues to grow as a trusted hub for food access, food literacy, and social inclusion in Cape Breton.

Community Breakfast

Our café-style Community Breakfast runs three mornings a week and offers a nutritious start to the day in a warm, welcoming space.

Open to everyone, the program serves up fresh, balanced meals—no registration required. Whether you're dining in or grabbing a meal to go, it's a place to connect, feel respected, and enjoy good food with good company.

Community Gardening

We support five vibrant community gardens in Glace Bay and surrounding areas, where people of all ages come together to grow fresh food, learn new skills, and build connections. These gardens help feed local families, support other food programs, and strengthen food security from the ground up—with over 60 volunteers lending their green thumbs!
